SIX FROM NOTRE DAME PREP EARN HONORS FROM NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Seniors placed among the top 50,000 students out of more than 1.5 million who entered the competition this round.
Kimberly Anderson, the principal of Notre Dame Prep's upper school, announced today that six seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.
Notre Dame Prep seniors Cecilia Belej, Sehaj Gill, Geralyn Nguyen, Nate Seaman, Vincenzo Tartaglia and Christina Yeras placed among the top 50,000 students out of more than 1.5 million who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
The NMSC identifies the 50,000 highest scorers and about 34,000 students are named Commended Students for their high scores and exceptional academic promise.
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," said a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."

More than 1.5 million juniors from nearly 21,000 high schools entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
