New guidelines established to convey a clear, compelling and consistent image and help school community communicate the value proposition and mission of Notre Dame Prep.

The new Message and Graphic Standards Guide is intended to help convey Notre Dame Prep's brand — as represented by specific images and words intended to signify the school's implicit values, ideas and personality.

Notre Dame Preparatory School has a highly visible identity in Southeast Michigan that continues to evolve. Because the school recently refreshed its brand and identity, it has developed guidelines to give the Notre Dame community a "roadmap" to a recognizable and consistent visual style and voice, while allowing the necessary flexibility to tell NDP's many unique stories.

All members of our campus community, including board members, faculty, staff and current parents, are invited to review the Message and Graphic Standards Guide (PDF) in order to help convey a clear, compelling and consistent image of our school.

The Purpose of the Message Guide

The goal of the Message section of the guide is to strengthen the image of Notre Dame Preparatory School and bring a new level of impact to our communications. The key to this impact is consistency — giving voice to a single set of messages across all our communications. Put another way, our goal is to demonstrate fidelity to a single brand.

It is an important endeavor. By telling our story well, we have the chance to build a strong, clear and accurate image of our school. That kind of image fuels the success of our enrollment and development programs, supports our efforts to recruit excellent faculty and staff, and enhances the feelings of pride and loyalty that unite us as a school community.

Communicating a clear and consistent message about Notre Dame Prep will also involve new marketing materials.

Nearly everyone has a role in presenting our school to the wider world, whether through official duties (writing for the website, speaking at an open house) or informal ones (talking with visitors to the school, describing Notre Dame Prep to friends and neighbors, etc.).

As you engage in these activities, consider the Message Guide as a resource. Please put these tools to work as you do your part in telling Notre Dame Prep’s story, and give that story additional power by drawing on your own experiences and sharing your own reasons for being at Notre Dame. In that way, you can help positively influence others who may value and share in our mission.

The Purpose of the Graphic Standards Guide

To create a powerful program of school-wide communications, consistency in message and design is key. The graphic standards section is intended to help ensure that consistency. The Message section outlined a series of carefully crafted messages, shaped through audience research.

The Graphic Standards Guide, on the other hand, outlines a set of visual tools that will define a distinctive look for those messages. It begins with the logo.

The Notre Dame Preparatory School logo is the visual cornerstone of the communications program. Its effective use, outlined in the guide, will raise awareness of the school among many audiences and help establish a recognizable brand, uniting a range of communications in print and online.

The Graphic Standards Guide also provides direction on typography, color, stationery, athletic branding and more.

Notre Dame's marketing and communications department is responsible for stewarding the NDP brand and messaging and we are happy to provide guidance and answer questions. If after review of these guidelines, there are questions or concerns, please contact us at:
