Notre Dame Prep has been recognized by the College Board for student success and for broadening access to the Advanced Placement program.
The College Board recently announced that Notre Dame Preparatory School once again has been named to the Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll, earning a rare Platinum distinction. Last year, NDP also received Platinum status from the College Board.
The AP School Honor Roll, which last school year replaced the previous AP District Honor Roll, offers schools recognition across four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, which typically is earned by only about 2% of schools nationwide.
"This is a big deal for our school or for any school getting such an honor," said Kim Anderson, upper school principal. "It's still another great indicator of how well we are doing as a school and that we continue to feature phenomenal teachers who ensure our outstanding curriculum remains accessible for all students."
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
HONOR ROLL CRITERIA (NDP School Year 2023-2024):
“AP gives students opportunity to engage with college-level work, to earn college credit and placement, and to potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both — while still in high school. Through AP courses in as many as 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
ND Prep currently offers the following Advanced Placement courses: AP Art Studio, AP U.S. History, AP Comparative Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Spanish, AP Mandarin Chinese, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP English Language and Composition, and AP English Literature and Composition.
Beginning in 10th grade, NDP students may choose from 16 AP courses in an array of disciplines. In 2024, 328 NDP upper school students took 749 exams; 464 exams earned a 3 or higher; 107 students named scholar or better.
Juniors and seniors at Notre Dame Prep also have access to courses in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, including those in the following subject areas: English, world language, social studies, experimental sciences, mathematics and the arts.
