Notre Dame Prep's upper school has received the top “platinum” distinction for preparing students to succeed in Advanced Placement courses.

The College Board announced that Notre Dame Preparatory School has been named to the Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll, earning a rare Platinum distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll, which replaces the previous AP District Honor Roll, offers schools recognition across four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

As of October 2023, in Michigan, of 487 eligible schools, 26% earned a place on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll and only 2%, or 10 schools, including Notre Dame Prep, earned the platinum designation.

"I am so proud of our students," said Kim Anderson, principal of NDP's upper school. "Their hard work, focus, time management and study skills have brought them and our school this academic recognition. I also want to acknowledge the tremendous contributions of our faculty members who help foster our students' learning each and every day."

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

For a school to be recognized on the AP School Honor Roll, it must be located within the United States (including U.S. territories) or Canada and meet each of the following criteria anchored in research-based relationships between AP and college outcomes:

• College Culture: 40% or more of graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school.
• College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam
during high school.
• College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high
school. At least one of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading
their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year.

ND Prep currently offers the following AP courses: AP Art Studio, AP U.S. History, AP European History, AP Comparative Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, AP Pre-Calculus, AP Spanish Language, AP Mandarin Chinese, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP English Language and Composition, and AP English Literature and Composition.

Beginning in the 10th grade, NDP students may choose from the 17 AP courses offered by the school. In 2023, 337 students took 691 exams; 374 exams earned a 3 or higher; 93 students were named an AP Scholar or better.

Juniors and seniors at Notre Dame Prep also have access to courses in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, including those in the following subject areas: English, second language, social studies, experimental sciences, mathematics,  and the arts.
