Experienced fundraising executive Matthew Brown has been named vice president for advancement at Notre Dame Prep.
Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac, Mich., has named Matthew P. Brown to the position of vice president for advancement, effective May 20, 2024. The announcement was made by Head of School Andrew Guest, who said Brown's responsibilities will include oversight of Notre Dame Prep's fundraising, alumni relations and marketing communications activities.
Brown succeeds Mark Roberts, who has left the school to explore other opportunities.
“Matt is a senior advancement professional who brings innovation, a breadth of experience and a multi-year track record of success to this critical role at NDP,” said Guest. “His fundraising background is richly varied and encompasses many areas of strength we need on this campus and in the strategic areas we will be focusing on.”
Brown comes to Notre Dame Prep from WGTE Public Media, a non-commercial, member-supported public media organization based in Toledo, Ohio, where he was director of major gifts and planned giving. In that position, he was responsible for securing funds for the organization and managing its portfolio of prospective and existing donors.
Prior to WGTE, Brown was foundation director for EHM Senior Solutions, a Saline, Mich.-based senior living and healthcare services provider with facilities throughout southeastern Michigan. At EHM, he was responsible for donor relationships and stewardship and oversaw all operations of Evangelical Homes of Michigan Foundation, which provided financial support for the work of EHM Senior Solutions.
Throughout his career, Brown has held numerous other development positions at various institutions and nonprofits, including serving as director of major gifts at St. Mary Mercy Hospital, a community hospital in Livonia, Mich., founded by the Felician Sisters, and major gifts officer at Munson Healthcare Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan.
He also served as regional director of advancement at Olivet College in Olivet, Mich., where he was responsible for managing all existing and potential donors primarily in the western United States.
Brown said he's already met with many in the Notre Dame Prep community and can't wait to visit with more in the weeks and months ahead.
“I welcome the opportunity to work closely with Andy and the Board of Trustees, and to partner with NDP's dedicated advancement professionals as well as the faculty and staff whose amazing work is making a huge difference in the lives of our students," he said. "I also look forward to engaging with the many friends of NDP and advancing true philanthropy for the benefit of our Catholic and Marist school.”
Brown graduated from Laurentian University and Lakehead University, both in Ontario, Canada, earning Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees, respectively. He also holds a Master of Sport Science and Management from the United States Sports Academy, a private university located in Alabama.
