Team 3333A, Cole Nahra, Isaac Gumma, Oliver Jostock and Adit Gill, won the Design Award at the Dec. 9 VEX IQ League Finals held at Notre Dame Prep. They also earned a trip to the state finals in March.

At Saturday's massive VEX IQ league finals at Notre Dame Prep that fielded 36 teams split evenly between elementary and middle schools, NDP's teams once again performed well with a sixth-grade team getting a berth in the state finals.

According to Louise Palardy, Notre Dame Prep's STEM specialist and manager of the school's robotics center, all of NDP's entries were in the elementary category.

"All our NDP teams were classified as elementary school teams and we went against students much older than us," she said. "Team 3333A, sixth-graders Cole Nehra, Oliver Jostock, Adit Gill and Isaac Gumma, finished in fifth place and won the Design Award, qualifying them for the state championship to be held March 2 at Monroe County Community College."
