Notre Dame Prep students interested in careers in healthcare participated in state competition in Traverse City sponsored by HOSA, a global nonprofit organization focused on empowering future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience.

Lucy Janus NDP'27, Matthew Kafarski NDP'25, Geralyn Nguyen NDP'25 and Krrish Patel NDP'26 competed in the state HOSA conference April 17-18. More photos from the conference below.

A number of Notre Dame Prep upper school students competed in the Michigan HOSA State Leadership Conference held April 17-18, 2025, at the Grand Traverse Resort near Traverse City.

Geralyn Nguyen NDP'25 and Krrish Patel NDP'26 competed in the event of physical therapy, Matthew Kafarski NDP'25 competed in pathophysiology and Lucy Janus NDP'27 competed in occupational therapy.

Janus, a sophomore at NDP, earned a state finalist designation at this year's leadership conference and was awarded seventh place in her event of occupational therapy.

Senior Nguyen said she's glad she decided to join HOSA.

"HOSA has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of the health professions field," she said in a November 2024 article. "Before participating in it, I had no experience whatsoever. But now I get a glimpse into what I might be doing in the future!"

Formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, HOSA is comprised of middle school, secondary and post-secondary/collegiate students, along with professionals, alumni and honorary members.
