Decades of educational leadership and spiritual formation added to school's governing body.

Notre Dame Preparatory School has announced the appointment of Rev. James Strasz, s.m., to its Board of Trustees as a Marist representative.

The appointment was made by Rev. Joseph Hindelang, s.m., provincial of the United States Province of the Society of Mary. A Detroit native, Strasz professed vows as a Marist in 1975 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1980.

Strasz has devoted the majority of his ministry to education, serving in a variety of roles at Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods and Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac. His work has included positions as teacher, campus minister, assistant principal, head of the religion department and superior of the local Marist community. He currently serves as director of the Marist Way and superior of the Marist community in Pontiac.

A graduate of Assumption College and Weston School of Theology, Strasz also has held leadership roles within the Society of Mary, including vocation director, provincial secretary and vicar provincial.

Board Chair Steve Pangori welcomed the appointment, citing Strasz’s longstanding commitment to Marist education and formation.

“Father Strasz has dedicated his life to the mission of the Society of Mary and to generations of Notre Dame students,” Pangori said. “His steady presence, deep faith and humble approach to serving others have left a lasting mark on our school community. We are grateful to have his wisdom and experience guiding us as a member of the Board of Trustees.”

Strasz’s appointment reflects the continued partnership between the Society of Mary and Notre Dame Preparatory School in advancing its Catholic and Marist mission.
