BEST OVERALL VEX ROBOTICS TEAM IN STATE

Five NDP teams compete for a chance to go to the world championship in May with the "Tornado Troopers" earning events's highest honor.

At this past weekend's Michigan VEX High Stakes Middle School State Championship held at the Grandville Robotics Competition Center in Grandville, Mich., five Notre Dame Prep teams competed out of the 40 teams in the state that made it that far. 

A summary of the highlights that included an honor as best overall team in Michigan: 

• Team 3333A, "M&M (Math Mechanics)" (7th graders Oliver Jostock, Issac Gumma and Adit Gill) advanced to the Sweet 16.

• Team 3333S, "Devious Shady" (Sam Tyler 8th, Thomas Higdon 8 and Alex Lark 7), reached the Elite Eight. 

• Team 3333T, the "Tornado Troopers" (8th graders Steven Carter, David Ma, and Juan Pablo Turrubiartes), took home the Excellence Award. The Excellence Award is the highest honor, recognizing them as the best overall team in the state. They will advance to the VEX World Championship, which will be held in May in Dallas, Tex.
