ACCOLADES AWARDED TO SENIOR ATHLETES

On Friday, April 26, after Mass, Notre Dame Prep’s administration announced its major athletic awards in front of students, faculty and staff. Male and female scholar-athlete of the year, athlete of the year and nine “Dirty Dozen” awards were awarded as follows. . .

Notre Dame Prep's scholar-athletes of the year and athletes of the year for the Class of 2024 are with Athletic Director Betty Wroubel.


Scholar Athlete of the Year

Given to one senior male and one female athlete annually and voted on by a committee of coaches, administrators and faculty members. This award is given to an accomplished athlete who also exhibits a strong combination of athletic ability and academic achievement. It requires a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA and the student-athlete must participate in a minimum of two sports during his or her senior year.

Notre Dame Prep Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Emily Szalach (Grade School: Holy Family)
•    Golf – Individual State Finals Qualifier (2022), Individual Academic (2023)
•    Basketball – BCAM Outstanding Senior (2024)
•    Lacrosse – All State HM (2023), Individual Academic (2023)
•    MHSAA Scholar Athlete Nominee, Dirty Dozen Award Recipient

Notre Dame Prep Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Nolan Tompkins (Grade School: St. Joseph)
•    Tennis – Individual Academic (2023)
•    Basketball – BCAM Outstanding Senior (2024)
•    Lacrosse – Individual Academic (2023)
•    MHSAA Scholar Athlete Nominee, Dirty Dozen Award Recipient

Athlete of the Year

Given to one senior male and one female athlete annually and voted on by a committee of coaches, administrators and faculty members. This award is given to an accomplished athlete who also exhibits the Notre Dame Prep mission of serving as a Christian person, upright citizen and academic scholar. It requires a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and the student-athlete must participate in a minimum of two sports during his or her senior year.

Notre Dame Prep Female Athlete of the Year: Bree Blakeslee (Grade School: Notre Dame Prep’s middle school)
•    Volleyball – All Region (2022, 2023), AVCA Brightest and Best, MIVCA Individual Academic
•    Soccer – All District 2023

Notre Dame Prep Male Athlete of the Year: Jacob Tuttle (Grade School: St. Joseph)
•    Football - First Team All State (AP, 2022), All Region (2022, 2023), First Team All State (MHSFCA, 2023), Second Team All State (AP, 2023), Legacy Player of the Year (2023), Individual Academic (2023), Committed to Alma College
•    Basketball - All State HM (2023, 2024 ), Individual Academic (2023, 2024), BCAM Outstanding Senior
 

Recipients of the Dirty Dozen Award from the Class of 2024 are with Notre Dame Prep Principal Kim Anderson and Athletic Director Betty Wroubel.


Dirty Dozen Award

To earn this award, a student-athlete at Notre Dame Prep must complete 12 consecutive seasons of athletics in good standing at the varsity, JV or freshman level.
